monday in office

It's easy to get hungry in office, so sometimes I'll just buy a loaf of bread and eat in the office at my own seat. And share with my neighbour.

So today I bought a loaf of bread and brought to work. And at work...

Neighbour: *takes out the bread on the table and eat*
Me: Wah so fast!

I thought she automatically open my bread and eat (we always very automatic one...), but when i look into my bag

*gasp*
Me: I thought u opened my bread!
N: What? No i bought it!
Me: *took out my bread* We bought the same one!

Gardenia Banana and Walnut bread!

And my neighbour's birthday is just 6 days after mine. Maybe that explains our similar taste!

+++++++++++

Later in the day, I was telling my neighbour that Kylie Minogue is coming to SG for concert.

She dun believe me when I told her how much the most expensive tix were going for.

U make a guess?

S$550!!!

That's called the DIVA pricing...

Traning

Was on external training last thurs and fri and also this thurs and fri. As understood from my colleagues who went for it previously, it's good. (Where got training not good one??)

Colleague: Shiok right?
Me: Yeah! Lunch break 1.5 hrs, got 2 15-min breaks with snacks and tea, go home at 4.30, can wear jeans and casual! And the questions they ask, more or less we know already...

But... honeymoon period ending soon =(

=.=.=.

Having bouts of diarrhoea these few days. I wonder if it's due to those China food... But I checked all the food labels, appear to be safe... Or maybe it's just something I ate.

=.=.=.

Got a call from a client who was questioning our bill. I just should not have put that dubious item in the first place. At least client was not that nasty, but made me spent time on it... Sigh. Wonder if it will be resolved when I return to the office on Monday. *prays*

Client management. Not easy.

guitar?

I learnt how to play the keyboard, I also know some guitar, but if i have to compare, I think my guitar skills are better than keyboard.

I know both instruments, but am a master of none.

I wanted to learn the keyboard/piano before, coz I thought it's very romantic to do so, especially when playing for someone. But now, I somehow prefer the guitar more. Maybe it has to do with how portable it is. I can bring it with me everywhere I go, more convenient than a keyboard. I can play it unplugged, I can play it standing, siting ot walking around, and I realise there is so much depth in guitar playing.

Just some thoughts.

The straits times special feature - transsexuals

I was quite surprised at today's The Straits Times' special feature on transsexuals.

The GLBT (stands for Gays, Lesbian, Bisexuals, Transgender) society has traditionally not been put in a good light by the local media. Sometimes I'll read a few comments or articles which are positive (which I deem that the media finds it necessary to maintain a balance) but largely, it's still mostly unbalanced.

The special feature in the papers talks briefly about why transsexuals want to go for the sex change op, the problems transsexuals face in our society and there are also a few interviews with some transsexuals. Most importantly, the article brings home the issue that transsexuals have always existed in our society, whether we like it or not, and that we should not discriminate them.

I do hope that the report will open the eyes of many people in the society who do not know much about transsexuals and simply assume that they have a problem. Although our society is termed as one of the more advanced societies in terms of tech and economic development, some areas are still lacking in progress. Because of the various laws and checks and unseen boundaries, there is still a degree of homophobia in our society today.

I think that transsexuals would face more problems more than gays, les and bis. The op will change their lives forever as it's not reversible. Doing the op means out-ting to everyone what they are feeling and threaten them from being thrown out by families and severing of ties with friends who do not understand them. Not like gays, les and bis who can choose to be closetted and to lead a second live at night. Also, there's the high cost of the operation and how society looks at them.

In fact, even gays, les and bis may not understand how a trans feels, what more about straight people... I myself have known more about trans through the report. Kudos to The Straits Times for it.

My home has been very slow in upgrading our cable to digital.

Now when everyone is going for HubStation, we only start to upgrade from analogue to digital. I was a bit embarrassed in the Starhub shop when other customers brought their digital set-up box to exchange for the HubStation, while I brought my old black analogue box to exchange for the digital set-up box.

One reason for delaying our upgrade is that my fanily members are already accustomed to using the old box. The digital one can prove to be a bit hard for them to use, and indeed, it's abit complicated...

Now, still in the stage of switching channels. And determining if the box is on or off.

Your result for The Perception Personality Image Test...

NBDC - The Illusionist

Nature, Background, Detail, and Color

You perceive the world with particular attention to nature. You focus on the hidden treasures of life (the background) and how that is affected by the details of life. You are also particularly drawn towards the colors around you. Because of the value you place on nature, you tend to find comfort in more subdued settings and find energy in solitude. You like to ponder ideas and imagine the many possibilities of your life without worrying about the details or specifics. You are highly focused on specific goals or tasks and find meaning in life by pursuing those goals. You are a down-to-earth person who enjoys going with the flow.

LASIK

Must take care of eyes more now... coz i just underwent LASIK!

Decided to go for it as my contact lens had just expired (2yrs) and I am supposed to be making a new pair. But recently, people around me have been going for LASIK and since I have been pondering about this for some time liao too, i thought, why not? So i asked PQ for her doc's contact and off i went for it...

Went for my pre-LASIK assessment on Monday, where i took a couple of tests to ascertain my power and to assess if I am suitable for LASIK. And yes, i was! Booked the surgery date in the same week 2 days later, so fast!

The actual surgery... Actually I wasn't that nervous on the day before the surgery, in fact i was more of excited when my colleagues asked me about it. But on the day itself, it certainly was abit scary... I was wondering if i would be so scared until I faint, then how?

Went into the surgery room and lied down. The doc taped my right eye and clamped it to prevent blinking and talked to me to calm me down. The only thing I should do, he said, is to focus on the blinking red light.

After a while, he applied some pressure, which i presume was some thing over the eyeball to allow him to cut the cornea. With it, my vision darkened totally (i thought i was fainting... haa) before the red light comes back on, but fuzzy and blurry now. And I could smell the laser or some burning smell, and the doctor went "25% complete, 50% complete and u are doing very well, 75%, 90% and done." And after some washing, my right eye was done!

And the same for my left eye! However, he had to apply the pressure thing over my eye twice as the first one does not seem to be the correct size. Also, for my left eye, the doctor put in a contact lens after the op to protect the cornea.

The whole operation was really fast, maybe 5 mins max for each eye? After the op, it just seems like a dream. There isn't really much pain (only pain i felt was when the pressure was applied on my left eye), but i did feel a bit uncomfortable though in the middle of the operation when i suddenly thought "OMG i am wide awake now and the doc is now cutting my cornea but i dun feel anything!" Haha...

After the op and today's post op review, the doc kept saying "Perfect!" when he looked at the fruit of his labour. Haha. My left eye is still red today after the op, which the doc explained was due to my over-nervousness during the op where i squirmed my eye. This might have caused some blood vessels to burst and perhaps the reason why he put in a contact lens to protect my left cornea. But it will be fine and the redness will go away in a few days time.

The redness is the only problem i am facing. Still, i have to put eyedrops every now and then as advised by the doc, and not only when i feel blurry (sign of dryness).

About 36 hours after the operation now... And I am feeling great! And seeing great too!

comex

This week... spend and spend!

1. Comex 2008

Went with CY and ZQ, where CY bought his samsung smart phone and ZQ bought a laptop too.
Me bought a LG laptop, which everyone asked, "LG? Got laptop?" "Strange brand to buy laptop ah..."

I also dunno why i bought LG... Haha... Need one which i can play Starcraft2 when it comes out next year. Better come out soon! Now got what good games ah... hmmm...

Then I went to the DBS lucky dip booth. The lucky dip goes like this: For every S$X spent, the customer will receive a coupon, which he will slot into the system, press a button and then the screen will show 3 cars racing. If his luck is good, his car will overtake the others and he will win a big prize (eg mp3 player, good earphones, sony bravia tv). Otherwise, he will just get a wirelss optical mouse.

The person in front of me had 2 coupons, the first coupon: mouse. The 2nd coupon, his car overtake the others and he got a big prize. Ok... Then the screen showed "SONY BRAVIA TV"! That was the ultimate big prize! Everyone went "wah! oooh!" And he walked off happily with a Sony Bravia TV (dunno what inch la).

The point is, if he had only 1 coupon, it could be me winning the tv!

So it's my turn, and i told the attendant, "He so lucky... Me confirm... *haiz*"
She: "No, no, You cannot be so sure."

The probability of one big prize after another is usually very slim mah, so I just press the button. And... I also got a big prize! Not TV, but at least a sony mp3 player. Beats a optical mouse anytime!

My laptop has been great so far, only thing is having trouble with wireless. hmmm.

Part 2... next post... need to rest my eyes... =)
